Wallet safety

Why signing on HODLComp is safe

Short version: HODLComp never takes custody of your funds, and we never ask you to sign a transaction. The only thing we ask you to sign is a plain text message — which is physically incapable of moving your funds.

The one rule that keeps you safe anywhere in crypto: a message signature (signData) can never move funds. A transaction signature can. HODLComp only ever uses the first kind. If any site — including one claiming to be us — ever shows you a transaction to approve for joining, claiming, or logging in, that is your signal to stop.
1

What we ask you to sign

A short text message like "HODLComp — I am joining the competition… This is a free message signature. It cannot move funds." Your wallet shows you that exact text before you approve. There is no amount, no recipient, and no fee — because it isn't a transaction. It's the same technology as "Sign in with your wallet" used across Web3.

2

Why we ask at all

It proves you actually hold the wallet you're using — nothing more. That single fact is what keeps competitions fair: it stops someone from entering a wallet that isn't theirs and stealing its on-chain history, its conviction score, or its prize. The signature is the reason the leaderboard can be trusted.

3

What HODLComp can never do

We never hold your funds. We can't move your tokens. We can't spend your ADA. Prizes are paid by organizers directly from their own wallet to winners — the platform is never in the middle. There is no deposit, no escrow, no approval that grants us access to anything.

4

Verify it yourself

Don't take our word for it. When the popup appears, read the message — it plainly says it can't move funds. Check that your wallet calls it a "signature" or "sign data" request, not a transaction. Any developer on your team can confirm HODLComp uses CIP-30 signData, which has no ability to transfer assets. Trust, but verify.

You can explore every competition, leaderboard, and the game with no wallet connected at all. You only sign when you choose to join, claim, create, or save a score.

How it works

Scoring you can trust.

HODLComp recognizes conviction. You rank up from tokens you buy & holding duration — nothing else.

1

Hold 50,000 $HODL

That's your key to JOINING competitions. Connecting your wallet to the dashboard is free and open to everyone, whatever you hold.

2

Join, buy, HODL

Join live competitions to appear on the leaderboard. Buy on a supported DEX. HODL till the end. Buys after the competition starts count, so if you buy and then join, the buys will count.

3

Conviction

Every token earns credit for each day you hold it. Ranking weight: 70% Conviction | 30% Net Held.

4

Claim

Eligible participants have 7 days to claim or they forfeit. To be eligible, you must hold the same amount of tokens when the competition ends or greater. The organizer can compensate participants when ALL eligible have claimed.

Five wallets, same competition

A worked example on a 7-day competition, using the real formula: Score = 70% conviction + 30% net held, each normalized against the field (the leader of each part gets the full weight). Conviction is token-days — tokens × days held.

Round-tripperBought 1.0M day 1, sold all day 40 td00.0Off the board
Conviction is 70% of the score — showing up early and holding wins the race
Conviction (token-days):
· Early holder: 1,000,000 tokens × 6 days held = 6,000,000 token-days (the field's max)
· Last-day buyer: 3,000,000 tokens × 0.5 days held = 1,500,000 token-days

Normalized parts (each side divided by the field's leader):
· Conviction share — Early: 6.0M ÷ 6.0M = 1.00 · Last-day: 1.5M ÷ 6.0M = 0.25
· Net share — Early: 1.0M ÷ 3.0M = 0.33 · Last-day: 3.0M ÷ 3.0M = 1.00

Final score = 0.70 × conviction share + 0.30 × net share:
· Early holder: 0.70 × 1.00 + 0.30 × 0.33 = 0.80 → 80.0
· Last-day buyer: 0.70 × 0.25 + 0.30 × 1.00 = 0.475 → 47.5

The last-day buyer wins the size half outright, but conviction is 70% of the score — so showing up early and holding wins the race.
Two boards, two sets of rules

There are two different types of Leaderboards — Competition Leaderboard & HODL Members.

Competition leaderboard
Ranked by Conviction & Net Held. Only tokens bought during the competition and still held count. Pre-existing balances and transfers do not count.
Tracks real DEX activity. The Competition Leaderboard tracks BUY & SELL transactions using one of the supported DEXs. Only DEX buys increase your score. Conviction is key.
JOIN to appear, CLAIM to finish. To appear on the leaderboard, you must JOIN. When the competition ends, you must CLAIM. Competition Organizers get Organizer Tools in their dashboard — documenting, sharing, and distributing compensation for holding through the competition.
Runs for a fixed window. The board locks when the competition ends, and that frozen number is what you must still hold to claim.
Per-competition. Each competition is scored on its own, independently of every other one.
HODL. conviction board
Ranked by conviction, 0–100. Hold time (40%), retention (30%), competitions completed (20%) and holdings size (10%).
Used by projects to recognize loyal holders. Every holder is graded continuously — you don't need to enter a competition to appear.
Rewards long-term behaviour. Selling reduces the time and retention parts proportionally; buying more never erases the history you've built.
1

Conviction = token-days (70%)

Every token you buy earns one credit for every day you hold it. Hold 1,000,000 tokens for 5 days and you've earned 5,000,000 token-days. It's that simple.

The key rule: a token only earns credit for the time you actually held it. Tokens you buy on the last day have barely been held, so they earn almost nothing — no matter how many you buy. That's what makes a last-minute whale dump powerless.

2

Size = net tokens still held (30%)

The rest of your score is simply how many tokens you're still holding at the end. This keeps the competition a real buying race — the more you hold, the higher you score — and it makes sure someone who buys early then quietly dumps can't coast on old conviction.

Honest status & safety

  • Connecting a wallet is read-only — it lets us see your public balance to rank you. It can't move your funds.
  • We never ask for or hold your private keys or seed phrase.
  • Scores are computed from the chain on our server — never from anything your browser claims.
  • This is an early version. Compensation is currently sent manually to winners with public transactions; audited smart-contract escrow is the next milestone. Don't treat anything here as financial advice.

Do I need a Cardano wallet?

Short answer: yes — and it takes about five minutes to set up. Here's what a wallet is, why you need one, and exactly how to get started, in plain language.

What is a wallet?

A crypto wallet is a free app that holds your coins and tokens — think of it as your own account that only you control. On Cardano, the coin is ADA. You'll use ADA to buy $HODL and to join competitions.

Why do I need one?

HODLComp never holds your funds. Everything you do — joining, holding, getting paid — happens straight from your own wallet. No account, no password stored with us, no middleman. Your wallet is your login.

Is it safe?

Joining and claiming only ever ask you to sign a message that proves the wallet is yours. A signature can't move your funds or spend your tokens. You stay in full control the whole time. More on wallet safety →

On your phone?

Set up in five minutes with VESPR

VESPR is a clean, well-trusted Cardano wallet for iPhone and Android. Read each prompt in the app closely and follow it to finish setting up your wallet — especially the part about saving your recovery phrase.

1

Download VESPR

Get the free app from its official site, then open it and choose to create a new wallet.

Download VESPR ↗
2

Create a wallet

Follow the prompts. VESPR will show you a recovery phrase — a list of words. Write it down and keep it somewhere private. It's the only way to restore your wallet, and no one from HODLComp or VESPR will ever ask for it.

3

Add ADA to your wallet

Put some ADA in. You can buy ADA on a centralized exchange like Kraken and transfer it to your wallet, or buy ADA directly inside VESPR. ADA is what you'll use to buy $HODL and cover the tiny network fee when you join.

4

Buy $HODL directly from HODLComp

Once you have ADA, swap it for $HODL right here — no other app needed. Then you're ready to join competitions and climb the leaderboard.

One golden rule. Your recovery phrase is the keys to your wallet. Never type it into a website, never share it, and never send it to anyone — not support, not a "giveaway," not us. Keep it offline and you keep control.
Connect your wallet on the dashboard to see your profile.

Terms & disclaimers

Please read this before using HODLComp. By using this site you acknowledge everything below.

HODLComp is an early-stage experiment (v0) built to test whether people and projects want this. It is not a finished financial product, and nothing on it is an offer, solicitation, or financial advice.

We never hold or control your funds

HODLComp does not take custody of, escrow, pool, or control anyone's money or tokens. Connecting a wallet is read-only — it lets the site see your public balance to rank you. It cannot move, spend, or access your funds, and we never ask for your private keys or seed phrase. Never share your seed phrase with anyone, including us.

How compensation actually works (no smart contract yet)

In this version there is no escrow smart contract. Compensation funds stay in the wallet of whoever is organizing the competition. To be eligible, a winner must claim within 7 days of the competition ending and still hold their tokens. After that claim window closes, the organizer sends compensation directly and manually to eligible participants from their own wallet — generally within the 14-day compensation period — and the transactions are posted publicly. Status is shown as Pending → Sent; an organizer who hasn't paid after the period is shown as No Compensation, which updates back to Sent if they pay later. Because the platform never holds funds, compensation depends on the organizer following through, and we cannot guarantee it. Only participate in competitions you're comfortable with on that basis.

The $HODL token & investment risk

HODLComp has an associated meme coin, $HODL. Holding it is required to create or join competitions on the platform, but it grants holders no rights, rewards, revenue share, or claim on the platform. Neither $HODL nor participating in a competition is a securities offering, a managed investment, or a promise of profit. Do not expect any financial return. Meme-coin prices are extremely volatile and you can lose everything you put in, entirely independently of HODLComp. See the $HODL page for details.

Not financial, legal, or tax advice

Nothing here is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. You are solely responsible for your own decisions, your own tax obligations, and complying with the laws of your jurisdiction. If you're unsure, consult a qualified professional. Some activities may be restricted where you live — that's on you to check.

Scoring is best-effort and on-chain

Rankings are computed from public blockchain data and credit only tokens bought on a recognized decentralized exchange:

  • Snek.fun bonding curve
  • Minswap V1 & V2
  • Splash & Spectrum
  • WingRiders V1 & V2
  • SundaeSwap V1 & V3
  • MuesliSwap
  • VyFinance
  • CSWAP

Note that aggregators (hizz.io, DexHunter, and similar) route through these venues, so buys made through an aggregator are generally counted too.

Tokens received by transfer do not count. We work to make this accurate. Data is pulled every 10 minutes and pages refresh every 2 minutes. Rankings and results are provided "as is" and cannot be changed. We are not liable for errors in calculations — this v0 is experimental, to test demand.

Experimental

This is an experimental platform. It may have bugs, go offline, or miscalculate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HODLComp and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from use of this site — and the platform holding no funds is part of how it keeps you protected. Participation in any competition is at your own risk, and the Competition Organizer is solely responsible for compensating eligible participants.

You must be allowed to use this

By using HODLComp you confirm you are of legal age in your jurisdiction and that participating in skill-based holding competitions is permitted where you live.

One-line version: HODLComp is an experiment that ranks wallets by tokens bought and held. It holds no funds, doesn't guarantee any compensation, and isn't financial advice. The $HODL token is a meme coin; holding it is required to create or join competitions, but it carries no promised rewards. Use it at your own risk.

Grouped by stake key, so splitting a wallet across addresses gains nothing. Kept is the share of everything a wallet ever acquired that it still holds. Community health

Everything a project needs in one place — with a verification label on every number.

Conviction Score.

Every holder is graded on four metrics, each measured against the strongest holder in the community:

Hold time 40% Retention 30% Competitions 20% Net 10%

Selling reduces your hold time and retention proportionally — sell half and you keep half your accrued time; sell everything and the clock restarts. Buying more never erases what you already hold.

Hold duration is measured from when tracking began for each wallet, so it is never over-reported — long-standing holders may see their figure keep climbing as tracking matures.

The fine print

What this is — and isn’t. This board grades every $HODL holder on conviction — how long they’ve held, how much of what they acquired they’ve kept, how much they hold, and competitions they’ve completed. You don’t need to enter a competition to appear here. Buying more never erases the history of tokens you already hold; selling reduces the time-based and retention parts of your score. Known team, treasury, liquidity, burn and contract wallets are excluded.
About any recognition. From time to time, entirely at our discretion, HODLComp may recognize community members with ADA, tokens, badges or access. These are not scheduled, fixed, guaranteed or promised, and may change or stop at any time. Nothing here is a yield, dividend, interest payment, guaranteed income or promise of profit. Rankings measure participation and community activity and are not financial advice. Rankings use available on-chain data and may shift while activity is being processed.

Why use HODLComp

Built for both sides of a competition.

A competition is a simple deal: your community buys and holds your token, and the people who hold longest and strongest get recognized and rewarded. Leaderboards are public and pulled on-chain so buys/sells can't be altered.

For project organizers
Volume that sticks. Buying rewards participants and selling costs them, so you attract holders rather than bots cycling the same tokens.
See who your real community is. Find out which wallets hold through a dip and which flip on day one — measured, not guessed.
Invite-only for trust. Launching competitions is currently limited to approved, verified organizers — so participants always know the prize is real. Want to launch? DM @HODLComp. Creating is free: you set the prize and pay winners directly — no escrow, no platform cut.
Build public trust. Every payout is verified on-chain and your track record follows you as visible organizer badges.
Analytics that inform decisions. Community health, retention, holder growth and conviction distribution — exportable and shareable.
For participants
Nothing at risk. Joining is a free signature — you just need to hold 50,000 $HODL. Your tokens stay in your wallet for the entire competition.
Patience beats size. Holding early and long outranks a whale who buys at the last minute.
Clear rules, public board. You always know your number and exactly what it takes to win.
Recognition that lasts. Unlock badges and gain XP that carries across the platform.

What $HODL is

$HODL is purely a community token, used to JOIN & HOST competitions. No rev share, payouts, and there's no staking.

The community hosts competitions

The community hosts $HODL competitions regularly to help give back and reward members for being active and having conviction.

Running HODL Competitions keeps the platform active, volume healthy, and provides a gamified experience. Members with real conviction deserve to be recognized. It's the token's culture in action — the $HODL conviction leaderboard lives on the HODL. page.

No staking, no payouts, no revenue share

To be crystal clear: beyond creating and joining competitions, holding $HODL does not entitle you to anything. There is no staking, no yield, no payouts, no revenue share, and no rewards schedule. It is a meme and a community, not an investment. Treat it as one.

Be careful

Verify the official policy ID through our verified channels before buying, and ignore anyone promising returns — those are scams.

HODL the Tortle
The legend

HODL the Tortle

In a world that moves at lightning speed, where fortunes appear and vanish overnight, one humble voice rises above the noise: "Slow and steady… is the only way that lasts."

This Tortle wasn't born from hype or rushed into existence during a bull run. HODL was shaped by hard lessons and years of navigating crypto — watching brilliant projects rise only to fall because they moved too fast and built too thin. Communities got rugged. Trust was shattered by scams. Good people lost everything chasing the next shiny utility token, memecoin, or NFT.

Through it all, one truth became clear: the projects that endure aren't the loudest or the fastest. They're the ones that move with patience and purpose. But even after all the disappointment, something changed everything.

When $SNEK launched, it was different. No overnight hype machine. A true fair launch. Organic community growth. The team didn't just talk — they delivered, and they're still delivering today. In a sea of broken promises, SNEK proved that memecoins could build real culture, real loyalty, and real staying power. SNEK pulled its holders out of the trenches. It restored clarity. It gave back something that had been lost: hope.

That experience didn't create a competitor. It created inspiration. HODL and HODLComp exist because of what SNEK showed is possible on Cardano. SNEK will always wear the crown. HODL's only goal is to add another steady, trustworthy voice to the ecosystem — helping the broader Cardano community the same way SNEK helped so many weary travelers find their way again.

HODL doesn't promise overnight riches or viral pumps. He promises something rarer: a project built with integrity, patience, and the genuine desire to give others the same hope that SNEK gave everybody. In a space full of speed and spectacle, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is keep moving forward — slowly, steadily, and with heart.

This is more than a token. This is a reminder that crypto can still feel good. That communities can still be protected. That building something real alongside giants is still possible.

Welcome to the slow lane. Welcome to HODL the Tortle. Slow and steady wins the race.

$HODL promises holders nothing, isn't an investment, and isn't financial advice.
